LTO Chief Virginia Torres Announces Retirement Amidst Casino Viral Video Controversy

Despite the fast widespread of the viral video of the casino controversy where now chief of Land Transportation Office, Virginia Torres has recently been involved, the government official has announced in the news her resignation soon. She also said that she has forgiven those responsible for the claimed “set-up” that we all saw in the video where she was caught playing in a casino in Manila.

Today, in TV Patrol, her resignation was announced and according to her, she is now over with the controversy that has led Pinoys questioning her mandate under memorandum order prohibiting government officials and the military from being seen in places like the casino.

In a statement over at the Philippine Star online news, these are the exact words.

“Para magkaroon ng katahimikan sa LTO, sa mga issues, I chose to retire,” Torres said in a radio report Monday, denying that the Palace asked her to step down.

Torres said that she personally informed President Benigno Aquino III and Transportation Secretary Emilio Abaya of her decision to leave her post.
